Acapella - Don't stop that feeling

I was listening to a Studio 360 podcast this week and Kurt Anderson, who I consider a smart guy, was doing a feature on a group called Sonos. They are an acapella group doing modern music and Kurt was acting like this never happens and I started poking around on the web to see if I could find some cool stuff to bring you.





Sonos has some cool stuff to listen to around the web but pictures make better television. Unfortunately, the videos of them live aren't particularly good and their best video isn't available for sharing. check out this and this if you like what you hear.

After this I was reminded of an acapella piece I had heard on The Vinyl Cafe on the CBC It was a woman by the name of Petra Hayden doing a solo acapella cover of Journey's Don't Stop Believing which is very nice, but I wanted to include this video with a full chorus which I liked even better.



This video of the Who Sell Out is also very nice, but I would hate to be one of the singers who only gets to hum.





I think Kurt was also incorrect to say that acapella covers of modern music is a new thing. Back when I was at university we played a lovely cover of the Talking Head's Psycho Killer by a group called the Flying Pickets sadly there wasn't a live video of that so here is a little taste.



There are still a lot of cool acapella groups in colleges around the world they are always looking for cool music to make them stand out from the other geeks at the competition. Hence...



from the UC Men's Chorus or this from Straight No Chaser which isn't seasonal yet.
